Festivals and Folklore

Apulia in general, but Salento in particular, offers all year round interesting events that deserves to be visited. The typical local town festivals in summer are a revelation of lights, music, colors and scents.


•    Patronal festivities - born to honor the Holy Protector of the town, nowadays almost a contest for who organize the greatest and most beautiful event.  An "enlightening" example is the festival of Santa Cesarea at Porto Cesareo  (20 – 25 August) during which you can also enjoy a magnificent firework show. Each patronal festival has its reason of attraction and it will be impossible not to come across at least one of these during your stay with us.


•    The Salento summer is characterized by many culinary festivals. From the " sagra te lu purpu" (octopus), " sagra della friseddra" (hard bread) to the “sagra della puccia" (like pita bread).... tasters choice


•    Salento, the land of the "pizzica" and the "taranta", hosts the “Notte della Taranta”  in Melpignano, an well-known event even abroad. Every evening important artists, both Italian and foreign, perform.


•    For those who love more classical soundtracks; the Summer Symphony Season of Lecce. From classic, jazz to popmusic. Discover the most beautiful spaces of Lecce, during the months of June and July.
